From The Week of January 11, 2019, ‘Making 2019 Happier, What science has discovered about lifting mood and creating a positive outlook on life’. In the article, looking at How do we make 2019 a Happier year, this special report suggests, (among others), Physical activities; Get outside into green spaces; Be grateful for the good things in your life; Keep a gratitude dairy; and much more.
Looking back at my 2018 New Year Blog, ‘Is One of Your New-Year’s Resolutions – A Fulfilling Relationship?’, makes me take inventory about my own relationships, Have I become more connected and vulnerable, did I learn how to risk reaching out for connection?
Some years ago I wrote another blog about how to keep New Year resolutions that last..
It is important to maintain the commitments we make, at least partially, and at times perhaps modify them, better to adjust your step not your goal. “When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don’t adjust the goals, adjust the action steps.” Confucius
Our Hold Me Tight® Couples Workshop on January 12-13, 2019, here in Nevada City, California, was truly an amazing, powerful, touching, and transformation experience for the couples attending. (Hold Me Tight® is a registered trademark to Sue Johnson)
We keep the groups small and intimate, which invites deep connections and a special experiential form of the workshop.
It was like watching a miracle over the weekend, as couples broke down their walls, took the risk to become vulnerable, and opened to each other, to create a new way of connection, communication, and secure attachment bond.
During the closing ritual of our Hold Me Tight® Couples Workshop, there was not a dry eye in the room.
Once again, I am struck with awe, and immense gratitude to Dr. Sue Johnson who embarked on this journey of figuring out couples relationships, and broke the code for ‘what it is to love’, what are the obstacles to secure attachments, and how to form long lasting bonding connections, with our loved ones.
Here are some of the TESTIMONIALS for our Jan 2019 workshop:
“I want all my friends, family to attend the next available workshop – Dalia and Owen are the best at presenting, getting couples to the place of being able to understand what is really behind all the pain…bringing relationships back to a place of feeling safe and not avoiding the difficult – loving that you get to share life with your partner.”
“This workshop was so transforming and inspiring, so much more than I expected. We both learned so much about each other and ourselves.”
“Well worth the time and investment. Total professionals who know how to be vulnerable and share their hearts. They both know how to read what is going on in the hearts of the participants and know how to draw us out.”
“I was rather skeptical on how this workshop was going to improve my relationship with my same sex partner. To my amazement it has helped me to better understand where she’s coming from, and listen closer to the meaning and context of what she is sharing. Dalia and Owen worked together perfectly to engender this transformation in our relationship.”
“Owen and Dalia created a setting where we as couples felt safe and encouraged to open up our partners in new and deeper ways that I did not think could happen at a retreat with other couples. It was very real and very much a relationship change that was much needed.”
“Dalia and Owen gave us a great gift – the ability to step back, to really listen, to ask for what we need, and to feel heard without judgment. I feel closer to my partner, and much more enthusiastic for the adventure that lies ahead.”
“I signed my husband and myself up for this workshop feeling like it was our last resort. Instead I feel like it opened doors and broke down walls that we had up for years. I now have so much hope for our future!”
Our next Hold Me Tight® Couples Workshop, here in Nevada City California, will be in the Spring of 2019. Stay tuned, or sign up for my Newsletter, on my Website, or on my Facebook Page to be the first to get notice about our next workshop date.
This is an article in Men’s Health Magazine about the retreats and expeditions Evryman offers.
Here is an excellent podcast Owen did in NYC explaining the work he does. Listen to the last 5 minutes – it’s the best.
